It was now winter at Hogwarts and Christmas vacation was fast approaching. Hermione, Ron and Harry were busy in the library researching Nicolas Flamel, but with little progress. Harry had a suspicion that the information they needed was in the restricted section of the library. But getting in there with out a teacher's permission was impossible. Christmas vacation arrived and Hermione left for home leaving Harry and Ron behind. So, Ron had fun teaching Harry how to play Wizard Chess. Christmas morning, Harry received an unexpected gift. An Invisibility Cloak that had once belonged to his father. But there was no name. With an invisibility cloak now in his possession, a strange new freedom had come over him. Harry could go anywhere. But where would he go?

Harry thought that the best place to try it out was the Restricted Section and see if he can't find something on Flamel. Unfortunately his time was cut short when Filch over heard a very noisy book Harry had opened. But with the help of the cloak, he was undected and escaped Flich easily. Harry wasn't paying attention to where he was going and ended up in an empty classroom, but he wasn't alone. A mysterious mirror was leaning up against the far wall. It had a language Harry had never seen before. It read "Erised star ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi". Interested, Harry walked towards it to get a closer look. But To his surprise, he saw not only his own reflection but also his parents staring back at him through the mirror. Hungry to see his parents again, Harry kept coming back almost every night. The final time, Dumbledore was waiting for him. He explained to Harry that the mirror shows us not truth nor false, but what our hearts truly desire. He advised him not to come back because the Mirror of Erised only causes pain and would result the looker to waste away with their grief.
