The next morning in the Great Hall, Harry and Ron were talking about their night time adventure and how fun it was. Then Hedwig appeared with a very large and long package. It was from McGonagall and inside was a new Nimbus 2000 broom. Later on, Oliver Wood told Harry the rules on how to play Quidditch. Afterwards in Charms, Ron and Hermione got angry at each other for her being a know-it-all. Which lead to Ron unintentionally hurting Hermione's feelings.

That evening was the Halloween feast. A couple of the students were commenting on Hermione crying in the girl's bathroom all day. Just then Professor Quirrell burst into the great hall and announced there was a Troll loose in the dungeons. Dumbledore had the Prefects guide their houses back to the common rooms. On their way to Gryffindor tower, Harry remembered that Hermione didn't know about the Troll and decided to look for her. On their way, they found the troll heading into the girls bathroom where Hermione was. Harry and Ron managed to defeat the troll with blind luck and saved her. From that moment on, Hermione became their friend.
