In the Great Hall, the mail arrived. Dozens of owls filled the hall, dropping off packages and letters from home. Neville got a Remembrall from his grandmother to help him with his poor memory. The following day, it was Harry's first flying lesson with Madam Hooch. When he first took the broom into his hand, he couldn't believe how natural it felt to him. It was if he had been flying a broomstick for years. After an accident with Neville on his broom, Draco stole his remembrall when Madam Hooch brought Neville to the hospital wing. Harry chased Draco on his broom and ended up catching the remembrall after Draco had thrown it. McGonagall saw him and took him to see Oliver Wood to inform him of the new seeker.

Draco challenged Harry to a Midnight Duel and he eccepted. Ron and Harry left for the duel only to have Neville and Hermione tag along because the fat lady was not at her portrait. Draco wasn't anywhere to be found. Only then when Filch, the caretaker, appeared to be looking for them, did they realize it was a trap to get them expelled. Trying to get away they got lost and ended up in the 3rd floor forbidden corridor. They were confronted by a giant 3-headed dog, named Fluffy. The four of them ran for their lives back to the common room. Just before Hermione left to go bed, she informed Harry that it was standing on a trapdoor and possibly guarding something. Could it be the very object Hagrid took from Gringotts?
