Life was back to normal at the Dursleys after the zoo incident. Harry's life seems to have gotten worse since then until one morning when Harry went to get the mail. There was a letter addressed to him, right to the room under the stairs. Vernon took the letter away from Harry when he saw where it was from and tore to shreds. More and more letters kept coming to the house day after day and Vernon kept tearing them up to avoid Harry from reading them.

Then on Sunday morning, Vernon expected nothing to arrive due to no post that day when all of a sudden, an explosion of letters come flying in from the chimney and quickly filled the house. Harry attempted to get one of the hundreds of letters but Vernon managed to keep him away. This forced Vernon and the family to go away for awhile, first ending up at a Hotel where another letter to Harry found him arrived there and finally ending up on a small rocky island shack in the ocean to hide until they got a visitor!
